Release It All

Contributed by Mike Scott, Elder Overseer of Web/Graphic Arts/Media at Image Church

There have been a couple of conversations and situations that have happened recently where I can see that God was trying to teach me something. It is funny how God will reveal things to us in the Scriptures or other ways that all seem to coincidentally happen at the same time. God has been working with me on relaxing and letting go – letting God worry about the details and just to follow Him on faith without having to know what the next step is. I think this is hard for most of us as men who are providing for our families as this comes instinctively. A recent conversation with our church elders about a similar situation and devotionals and book readings is where God dropped a few nuggets in my lap.

Hebrews 11:6(ESV) – And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

This was from my devotions last week, and it spoke about how as Christians we claim that we are being “good stewards” of our resources when actually we are walking by sight and not by faith.  Some of us may refuse to do what God tells us unless we can see all the resources in place first.

In our POD a couple weeks ago, another group of verses hit me where God again was telling me to not worry because He is ultimately going to take care of us.

Matthew 6:25-27 (ESV) – “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?27 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?

These verses clearly address how we need to ultimately release everything and have faith that God will provide what we need. If we are anxious or worried, it can affect our health; our every thoughts; our lives. God wants to show us the miracles that only He can do for us, but that means we need to let go and let Him reveal it to us.  Remember that having faith does not eliminate our problems, but it keeps us in a trusting relationship with God.
